Charter sportfishing on the "Fatal Attraction" is experiencing Florida Keys offshore fishing at it finest.
The "Fatal Attraction" is a beautiful 53 foot wooden-hulled sportfisher, custom-built by Ray Davis in North Carolina in 1970. She's fished the waters off Key West for two decades, and is a very well known sight around these waters and in the Historic Harborwalk area in particular.
We believe that we have the perfect boat to give you and your family or friends the most enjoyable fishing trip of your life. The "Fatal" has the smooth, solid ride that only a wood boat can provide, and it is a time-proven fish-raiser, as the photos on these pages amply demonstrate.
Our crew stands ready to show you a great time whether you just want a short 4 hour trip in the beautiful, clear, green and blue near-offshore waters; a longer trip out to "The Wall" for the big ones; or even just a local daytime or sunset cruise.
Think you need to be an experienced angler to enjoy a great day of fishing on the "Fatal"? Nothing could be further from the truth! We do all the hard work for you, and you get the exhilaration of bringing the fish to the boat! In all honesty, our most enjoyable trips are usually not with experienced anglers, but with novices, especially women and children. They tend to listen better when we try to tell them what to do, and the look of sheer joy on their faces when they catch that first big one is one of our greatest rewards in this job! (Check out our "Lovely Ladies" and "Kool Kids" pages, and you'll see what we mean.)
However, we are also fully equipped with sturdy Penn and Shimano gear to help you enjoy any of the many local offshore tournaments staged in these waters every year, and we've done well in them. In 2007, we caught the only sailfish in the one-day OLE Songwriters Festival tournament. This year, we caught the most fish (dolphin), in that same tournament. Both of those feats earned us some "face-time" on the TV shows "Country Music Across America" and "Headline Country" on the Great American Country cable network.
We also have been hired the last three years by Bacardi to participate in the Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament in July. As luck (or lack thereof) would have it, the first marlin pictured in the column to the right on this page was caught two days before the Drambuie last year and the second one was caught shortly after that tournament. We then caught our third marlin of last year in October. But, hey, marlins are a tough catch here, even in the top months for them (late summer), and we believe that we caught as many as any other charter boat in town last year -- more than most. It's a rush when it happens, though, and those lucky customers loved it. It's marlin season once more, and some lucky customer(s) will, hopefully, get that thrill again!
By the way, we followed up that third marlin last year by catching five sailfish while trolling for a Scottish dad and his two teenage sons a few days later in one six hour trip!
Early spring brings brings our great sailfish run, with summer and BIG dolphin (mahi-mahi) right behind. A great time to be here!
Fall and winter mean sailfsh, wahoos, blackfin tuna and kigfish.
However, all the fish we catch can be caught in any month/season down here, it's just a matter of likelihood and conditions.
Think you're not properly prepared to go fishing on the "Fatal"? The truth is you don't need to bring much with you to enjoy a day on the water with us. We supply almost everything you need to have a great trip (including licenses, ice coolers, bait, tackle, etc.) other than whatever personal food and beverage you care to bring along, and even have a large variety of sun blocks of all levels for your use.
Give us a try when you're in Key West. You won't regret it!
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IT IS CUSTOMARY TO TIP THE MATE 15-20% IF HE WORKS HARD FOR YOU!
